John (Jack) Povey

Passed away peacefully at Northridge Long Term Care in his 88th year. Survived by his wife Mary, his sister Kathleen Hughes of England, his daughter Judy Cook and her husband Bruce and their children Andrea, Alison and Andrew, his step-children David Lyon and his wife Patsy, Catherine Fagerstroem and husband Max, and Gary Lyon, and many other grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife. Jack was a navigator in WWII with the RAF, he was shot down at Arnhem and was a prisoner of war. He was a long-time accountant with ERCO Chemicals.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville (905-844-3221), on Friday, August 20, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until a time of service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
