John (Jack) Kent

Jack lost his fight with cancer peacefully at Ian Anderson House. He was predeceased by his wife Diane. Dear father of Martyn and his wife Mary Jane and Jeffrey and his partner Judy. Loved grandfather to Laura and Kevin and step-granddaughter Amanda. Brother to LuLu Mary Miller of Peterborough. Jack was a long time member of The Oakville Club and had a passion for badminton for all of his life. Earlier in his life he was very involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada. He owned an airplane for a large part of his life which took him to many areas of Canada, including his favourite trips to the Arctic. Spending time with the family at the cottage in Muskoka was very special to him. He ran the Oakville Racquet Shop in downtown Oakville for many years. Jack was a volunteer at the Oakville Hospital as well. Visitation will be held at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St., Oakville (905-844-3221) on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Services on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 89 Dunn St., Oakville followed by a reception at The Oakville Club, 56 Water St., Oakville.
