Joan Marcil (nee Robertson)

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 21st, 2016 at Ian Anderson House in Oakville. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at IAH for their comforting end-of-life care. Special thanks also to friends and family who came to see Joan in her final weeks and days; those visits were very meaningful and heartfelt by her and she spoke of them fondly.

Joan leaves behind her loving husband Guy, daughters Anne (David), Louise and Yvonne, and cherished granddaughters Megan and Rachel.

Born December 13th, 1936 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Joan worked as a secretary before travelling with a friend to Montreal, Quebec in 1957. There she met Guy whom she married on April 20th, 1963. As a dedicated homemaker, Joan tended to her family and enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and gardening.

After moving to Oakville, Ontario in 1984, Joan and Guy enjoyed many years of travel to Britain, Europe, USA and Asia. She also loved playing bridge and golf; activities through which she developed special friendships.

Friends, family and guests are invited to join the family at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Thursday, December 29th, 2016 at 1:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Funeral Home.
