Jim Gougeon

GOUGEON, James (Jim) Alfred Arthur passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024 at Brampton Civic Hospital at the age of 93. Predeceased in 2021 by his wife Lorna (nee Moffatt) of 68 years. Jim will be missed by his children: Lynda Voegtle (John, deceased), Roger (Joanne), Karen (Dave Burt), Penny Welsh (Brian), Perry (Toni), Sandra Klazer (Dan) and Darryl (Joan). He will be fondly remembered by his twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Jim enjoyed a long and successful career in Brampton as a carpenter and builder, creating many of the homes and commercial offices in the Brampton and surrounding area.

Jim was a very social person. He was a founding and active member of the Brampton Musical Society. He enjoyed square dancing, church events, Probus, and of course euchre and billiards.

He and Lorna were active members of St. Paul’s United Church filling many key roles. The choir was a big part of Jim’s life, where he was a member for 67 years.

Family and friends will be received at St. Paul’s United Church – 30 Main Street. S., Brampton on Wednesday June 26, from 10am until the time of service at 11:00. Following a light lunch in Sanderson Hall, interment will be at Dixon Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates gifts to St. Paul’s United Church, Brampton, as well as Heart & Stroke Foundation.
