Jessie Webber

WEBBER, Jessie Ferrier (nee Beattie)

Passed away with grace at the tender age of 102. Predeceased by her husband David Clinton Webber, and her son Richard Johnson Webber; mother of Bill (Dorothy); loving grandmother to Cindy (Rick), Mark (Laurie), Brenda (Ori), Craig (Debbie), Bryan (Peggy), Scott (Catherine), and Christopher (Kate); and great grandmother to Joshua, Austin, Annie, Claire, Madeline, Alexa, Kyle and Mallory. Jessie was the consummate homemaker, with three course meals a standard, seven days a week, along with ironed sheets and daily dustings. These were not a series of domestic tasks, but an expression of her deep love for her family and the importance she placed in providing a home that offered the best for everyone. Her mind was just as active, as a voracious reader of mysteries and a loyal subscriber to plays at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. Occasionally she would arrive in style to meet friends for afternoon tea at Simpson’s Arcadian Court. Although a country girl at heart, having grown up in Caledonia, she felt very much at home in the city. At day’s end, the only time she allowed herself to relax, she watched Johnny Carson faithfully, whom she respected and admired; but it was David Letterman and Paul Shaffer who always made her laugh the loudest. Despite a devotion to late night TV, she was not surprisingly the first one out of bed every morning to prepare a hearty breakfast. Jesse also drank buttermilk everyday – a secret to her good health, energy and longevity. A celebration of life will be held in the Oakville Chapel of the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St., on Wednesday, May 5th, 10:00 am, followed by an Interment/Committal at the Caledonia Cemetery at 12:30p.m. Thank you to Heather Chessman and the staff at Vistamere in Oakville, for their loving care of our wonderful centenarian mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the charity of your choice. A Book of Memories may be signed at www.wardfuneralhome.com
