What an incredible life you led. We wanted you here longer, but almost four months ago, in your typical Mom way of soothing our pain, tears and fears you said to us "we are much too greedy because we have had you 95+ years." Your journey on earth was coming to an end but you still had that knack of turning tears to laughter. You lived, You Loved, You Gave, You were Faith-filled and You Received so much in return. How blessed our family has been to have you as our matriarch.
Surrounded at home by family, Mom passed away at 12:32AM on June 4th (The Day of Pentecost, a favourite of hers on the Christian calendar). Dearly beloved wife of the late Wesley Salmon, most amazing Mother of seven: Bonita, Marjorie, Howard, Kirk (late), Bosville, Mark and Nicole; adored Mother-In-Law of Dona and Marcia; Grandmother (G-Ma) to Shana (Danny), Uhuru (Theresa), Amanda (Brent), Daine, Sarah (Yohannes), Bosville Jr (Andrea), Charles (Shauna), Jason, Shivonne, Kirk Jr and Jonathan; Great Grandmother (G-Gma/GG) to Shyla, Dionne, Wesley, Carter, Emma and William. Dear Aunt to countless and adopted "mother" to many.
You gave so much of yourself (time, talent and resources) - to family, friends, community and church. You were warm and inviting (you gave great hugs), soft and fierce, vulnerable and strong, you possessed an ever expanding capacity to extend your love and caring far and wide. A riveting story teller, you lived a quietly extraordinary life. An outfit designer, dance costume and soccer jersey maker, in you, cloth and material met its match. You were featured as one of the Grandmothers on the TV show Loving Spoonful, you told stories at your grandkids schools, you were interviewed for an article published in the Toronto Star on the departure of Alcan from Jamaica, almost three years ago at the age of 92 you were game to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket challenge.
What a Life! What a life! Walk Good Mommy, G-Ma and G-Gma.....you are gone, you have left a gaping hole in our lives, we miss you more than words can describe, but you will forever linger in our hearts and memories.
