JAY LUMSDEN
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jay Lumsden on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the age of 56. He is now reunited with his adoptive parents Gerry and Gwen Lumsden and birth parents Dak and Betty Kennedy. Beloved brother to Meg (Dave), Dan (Maureen), Finlay, Donald (Sylvia) and Frances (Dereck) and pre-deceased by his sister Cathy. Cherished uncle to Chantelle, Derek, Maddy, Sophie and Sarah. Jay was a kind hearted and loving soul. He enjoyed time spent listening to hard rock and heavy metal music; especially his favorite bands Black Sabbath and Motorhead. He loved sitting behind a drum kit bashing away to his favourite bands as well as watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. Most of all though, his greatest joy was spending time with his nieces and nephews, he was so proud to be called "uncle". Jay fought many personal battles in his life but always strived to overcome his demons. Even through his own struggles he put others first and helped guide many friends toward the path of recovery. His strong sense of humor and infectious laugh will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and a wealth of friends. Visitation will take place at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. A celebration of Jay's life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Glendale House Withdrawal Management or Transition House would be appreciated.
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
