It is with profound sadness that the family of Jasmine Toolsedei Singh announces her passing on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 84 years of age. Jasmine will be lovingly remembered by her children Roy, Patrick (Bonnie), John, Kenneth, Karen, granddaughter Mellissa (Erin) and great granddaughter Joey. She was predeceased by her husband John Ramlall (on Sept. 15, 1972) and second husband Walter Singh (on Sept. 3, 1997).
If asked, the three words that would best describe Jasmine are independent, generous and refined.
In her earliest years, at a time when a young woman's role was scripted to marriage and motherhood, Jasmine decided that she wanted to become a teacher. She did so at the age of 17, just one example of her independent spirit.
Later in life, when she was faced with raising 5 children on her own, she set her mind to getting a driver’s license, a stable job and creating financial stability for herself and her family. Jasmine faced many hurdles in her life, but she was always able to summon the courage and determination to keep clearing those hurdles.
Jasmine welcomed people into her home and into her heart. She shared wonderful meals and wise counsel with close friends and colleagues, her children’s schoolmates and relatives, who occasionally stayed with the family. Her abundant generosity was extended to all who knew her.
And she was a role model to many. Her impeccable sense of fashion and her strict adherence to proper etiquette inspired countless friends, family and acquaintances.
Thank you to Personal Support Workers Jackie and Marilyn and the Palliative Care team at Headwaters Hospital who helped to take such good care of her.
Jasmine’s family will be holding a private funeral service. A memorial will be planned for a time when we are able to gather to celebrate Jasmine and share our stories of the impact she had on our lives.
Donations can be made in her memory to Lupus Canada.
Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the funeral service and interment will be private.
We thank you for your understanding and encourage you to provide your condolences to the family through her memorial page.
