Jan (John) Geertse

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Jan Geertse on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the age of 89. Beloved husband to Dorothy (nee- Hetherington) Geertse for 60 years of marriage. Loving father to Pam (Michael) and cherished grandfather to David (Andree-Anne) and Rebecca. Dear brother to Nell Hoekvandijke and brother-in-law to Truss Geertse both from the Netherlands. Brother-in-law to Joan Trafford Smith. Jan will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Special appreciation is extended to the doctors and staff at Sunnybrook and Humber River Hospitals for their compassionate care over the years. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Ward Funeral Home 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Ave) Weston, on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 12:30 pm until the time of service in the chapel at 1:30 pm. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
