Stapleton, James (Jim) Michael -- 70, Brampton, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2012. Born on October 28, 1941 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Jim grew up in Sarnia and graduated from Waterloo Lutheran (now Wilfrid Laurier University) before marrying Valerie (nee Pattison) and becoming father, coach and mentor to five boys. He enjoyed a 45 year career with London Life Freedom 55 Financial and in more recent years pursued lucrative hobbies as a farmer and flea market vendor. Jim is survived by his five sons, Michael (Sylvia), Patrick (Michelle), Chris, Tim (Jackie) and Thom (Nancy). He was ‘Papa’ to James, John, Noah, Thomas, Mary, Andrew, Emily, Grace and Roan. He is also survived by his friend and travel companion Norma McTavish; his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Brian Montgomery; his mother-in-law, Catherine Pattison; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Gwen Pattison; nephews Joel and Aaron Montgomery and Derek Pattison and niece Jennifer Bartholomew. Jim was predeceased by Valerie, his wife of 31 years; his parents Thomas and Margaret; and, father-in-law Alan Pattison. The family is forever grateful for the love and support of his family and many friends. There will be visitation at Ward’s Funeral Home, 52 Main St. South in Brampton on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, 940 North Park Drive, Brampton, on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Burial in Corunna to follow at a later date.
