James McGinley Purdie May 12 1964 - October 16 2024

After a short but remarkably valiant struggle with cancer, James “Jimmy, Jimbo, Jim,” passed away at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on October 16, 2024.Beloved long time partner of Anne-Marie Montrose, sister to Anne Morash (Rob) and Mary Beth Stewart (Jeff), uncle to Katie, Nicholas and Allie Morash and Emily and Abigail Stewart. Only son of Norm and Eileen Purdie of Etobicoke. Nephew of Father Timothy Kelly of Kentucky. Proud fur dad to his Shih Tzu’s: Doolin, Dublin and Winston.Jim attended St. Eugene’s elementary school, graduated from Don Bosco High School in 1983 and was student council president at Humber College while completing his Business Marketing degree in 1989. He then earned a CFP.Jim was a respected financial advisor and owner of ONDAEDGE Financial Group. He not only enabled many to grow their investment portfolios but also befriended many of his clients. Jim was the consummate entertainer. As a young person, he began “Jimmy’s Magic” and performed at hundreds of magic shows from children’s birthday parties to corporate events. Previously, he was the proud owner of a cottage on Oastler Lake and he and Annie hosted popular Super Bowl parties at their home for over 15 years. He loved to attend international sporting events and he and Annie travelled extensively.Jim was a loyal friend to many and in return they respected and supported both he and Annie particularly over the past several weeks. Our family will be forever grateful.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Sunday February 9, 2025 - Super Bowl Sunday. Details to follow.
