Passed peacefully on the evening of Feb 13, 2025, at the age of 86. Over the preceding days he was visited by his family who will miss him immensely. Just two months earlier he lost his wife and the love of his life, Wanda Halliday.
Heath leaves behind his children Denise and Michael and his wife Wendy. His grandchildren, Audrey and Wilson will remember him fondly and all the great times they had with him and Wanda.
Heath will also be missed and fondly remembered by his sister Joy, her husband Millar, and his nieces and nephews, Nicola, Mark, Julie, David, Hugh and Graham. He was a loving brother to his late siblings, Hugh and Iris.
Heath was born in Largs, Scotland to his late parents, Thomas and May (nee Nisbet). It was here, where they, along with his aunts and uncles instilled his incredible work ethic which lasted his entire lifetime. He worked at the family business which built and hired out boats. At the age of 19 Heath made the decision to start a new chapter and immigrated to Canada, met by his brother Hugh who came a few years earlier. It was while working at Massey Ferguson he met Wanda, fell in love and married. They moved to Scarborough where they started their family. He worked for a number of years as COO and VP of Comtech. When he departed ways with Comtech and began work with a friend at Flexmaster. He built lifelong friendships with people from both companies who were attracted to his loyalty, quick wit and fantastic sense of humour. In 2000, Heath and Wanda moved to Woodbridge. It was here where he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren always taking them on outings like Bass Pro Shop, better known to them as the Big Fishes store where they enjoyed spending time with their Grandpa. They were showered with love, treats and always a $10 bill stuffed in their pockets at the end of the day.
The deeply engrained work ethic never faded. Wanda kept him busy with projects around the house and the homes of Denise and Michael. For Heath there was rarely any downtime and it was not until the age of 80 when he finally retired, much to the chagrin of Wanda who now had to keep him busy 7 days a week.
Both Heath and Wanda would take the time at the end of the day for “cocktail hour” on the deck in the summer and by the fire in the winter, keeping toasty and taking stock of the day and memories from the past.
Heath’s laughter, humour and love will be missed by all the people who had the honour to meet and know him. His memory and legacy will live on with his friends and family who will never let him be forgotten.
