KIRKER, James - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Kirker on Sunday, February 21, 2010. Beloved husband of Irene. Dear brother of Violet, William, Harry, Mary, Anne, Ellen, Hugh, Mabel, Elizabeth and Irene, and caring and generous uncle to many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews in both Northern Ireland and Canada. Jim was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and served his country in World War II. Upon his return from the war, Jim moved to Toronto, Canada, where he met and married Irene and where he ran a successful lumber business, Antrim Lumber. Throughout his life, Jim kept strong ties to the 'Old Country' and his many friends and family there. Jim and his incredible generosity, keen sense of humour, love of travel and enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at the Ward Funeral Home 'Oakville Chapel', 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A Book of Memories may be signed at www.wardfuneralhome.com
