James "Jim" McGinn II

James Robert McGinn II
Veteran of WWII
Irish Regiment of Canada, serving in the liberation of Holland, Army Lieutenant

Passed away after a courageous battle at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on August 30, 2013 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Eleanor for 65 wonderful years. Loving and caring Dad of Laurie (Dennis Fowler) and Bob (Cori). Proud Grandpa of Jamie, Tye and Brock. Jim is survived by his brother Don (Olga) of Sudbury and predeceased by his sisters Mary and Vi. For 25 years, Jim was the Director of Mining in Ontario with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Jim was a distinguished member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada; Rameses Shriners; and the Royal Canadian Legion. Jim was originally from Sudbury, but spent the last 56 years in Oakville. ‘Grandpa’ was thrilled to support all three of his grandsons as they grew from their backyard hockey rink to the NHL. Jim’s family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to all who cared for him over the last few months at OTMH.
Visitation will be at Ward Funeral Home, “Oakville Chapel” 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held in the chapel at 3:00 p.m.
