It is with equal measures of sorrow and gratitude that we announce the passing of our dear father, James Robert Marshall, on this day - Friday, January 14th at 11:30 am.
James, or Jim as he was better known, grew up on a farm in Norval and went on to become a teacher and administrator for 38 years at many Brampton schools, including The Old Britannia Schoolhouse (teaching placement).
Jim was a gifted dancer, singer, whistler and stock man. He was also a dedicated and compassionate father and educator, longtime Kiwanis Club member, longtime Skydome usher, longtime usher at The Rose (theatre), Retired Teachers’ President and longtime member of Grace United Church in Brampton. Dad loved his church, his congregation and served in many capacities including church elder, usher, property bookings manager, choir member, guide for confirmands and coach of Grace United Church’s championship softball team, not to mention being a half-way decent first baseman, and pitcher, with speed to burn on the base paths.
Jim will be sorely missed by his wife, Thelma (nee Fee), for whom he fought valiantly for over 21 months after being given a prognosis of 6. His loss is also being deeply felt by his children, David Hunter Marshall, Shannon Elizabeth Marshall and Robert Ryan Marshall. His absence is also felt by his nieces and nephew, Marion Rogers (nee Jarvis), her husband Shawn and their two daughters Erin and Heather, Charles Jarvis, Shelley McGee (nee Jarvis), her husband Mike and their children Emily, Evan and Ethan. Jim was predeceased by his loving sister, Mary Jarvis (nee Marshall), and no doubt they are now happily reunited with each other, and their parents, in the after life.
Rest in peace Dad, and thank you for everything! You set a high bar, but we will endeavour to make you proud.
To safely manage and adhere to current social distancing requirements, please RSVP for the visitation. Wearing of masks or face coverings by everyone remains mandatory as per provincial regulations
