It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Macrae Borden, who passed away on September 30, 2021, at his home in Toronto. James was 34 years of age.
Born on December 28, 1986, James spent his life in Toronto, a city he loved and explored extensively. He attended The Dunblaine School as a child, Merle Levine Academy for high school, and later, George Brown College. He went on to work several jobs, most recently at Magnotta Wines. James loved photography, spending time with friends and family, and caring for his cat, Syrah. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his quiet kindness, and his loyal companionship.
James is survived by his mother, Jane Kettles, and stepfather, Les Urbankiewicz, his father, Perry Borden, and his three older brothers: Andrew (Lea Nogueira), John (Ian Commanda), and Dave (Emily Hincks). James was a proud uncle to Siri, Ellie, Craig, Alastair, and Hugh Borden. He was loved and will be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A private ceremony will take place at Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel, on October 17, 2021. The funeral will be livestreamed for those not attending in person who wish to take part. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation or the Toronto Humane Society in James’ honour.
