Irma Wolf Loewenberger Tipton
October 30 1920 – April 6 2022

We are very saddened by the loss of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother Irma Wolf Loewenberger Tipton.

Irma passed away peacefully in her sleep at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday April 6th in the 102nd year of her life. She is predeceased by her late husbands, George Loewenberger and Wayne Tipton. Cherished Mother of Johann/Ralph, Arthur and Diane. A very proud Grandma to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. Irma leaves behind her cherished younger sister Florence Sommerfeldt.

In our hearts Irma will always be remembered as a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Irma began her life in Spring Valley Saskatchewan on the family farm. She moved to Toronto in 1942 in search of greater employment opportunities. It was in Toronto that she met and married George Loewenberger and together they raised their three children until George’s passing in 1982. It was in 1986 she met and married Wayne Tipton. Together they enjoyed the twilight years of their lives. Irma was a kind loving soul who enjoyed life, music, singing, dancing, traveling, and a good joke or two. She was probably best known for her love of cards, in particular the game of Bridge. Irma was a pillar of strength to her family. She was above all extremely proud and dedicated to her entire extended family, relying on her spiritual beliefs to help her provide everyone with love and guidance throughout these many years.

Our family will receive family and friends on Saturday April 9, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, TORONTO, ON.

To maintain a safe space for all, and to protect guests who are elderly or immuno-compromised, we ask that all attendees wear a mask.

A celebration of Irma’s life will be held on Easter Monday, April 18 at 10:30 am at “Weston Chapel", 2035 Weston Road, TORONTO, ON.

The family has provided the opportunity to view a Live Stream of Irma’s “Celebration of Life” from the comfort of your own home. The link will become available on April 18,2022 at 10:20 a.m. (EDT) — Eastern Daylight Time. The recorded celebration will be available on this website for limited time.

Our family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the wonderful care that Irma received at the Village of Taunton Mills in Whitby and to the dedicated medical staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The level of care, kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed.
