Ingrid Mueller

Ingrid Katherina Mueller (nee Gabriel)
Born October 29, 1940, in Vienna, Austria to Franz and Emma Gabriel. Died August 21, 2015 at home in Toronto, after a year long battle with cancer. Ingrid was always a force to be reckoned with. Strongly opinionated, but deeply loyal, she felt eternally blessed to have spent 31 years married to the love of her life, Herman, who predeceased her in 2002. She was grateful to be part of a loving extended family, and leaves behind five siblings, Frank Gabriel, Eva Cooper (Milton) Adolf Gabriel (Teresa) Karin Gruenberg (Julius), and Rudi Gabriel (Angie). Particularly close to her two sisters, Ingrid was deeply grateful for the care provided by her younger sister Karin over the past few months of her illness, and felt lucky to have shared a lifelong friendship with both her sisters. Karin's constant care, along with nurses Ramona Ghosh and Cheryl Maceda, made her last months bearable and her passing infinitely more comfortable.

Ingrid's generosity was legendary and her laugh was big. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews Patricia Sculthorpe (David), Arthur Cooper (Marcia), Mark Gabriel (Jessie) and Kim Yakimovich (Ben) and their children (Geoffrey, Quinn and Gillian Sculthorpe, Nathaniel and Fynnian Cooper).

Ingrid immigrated to Canada in 1957 and met Herman while on vacation in Barbados. After they married, they lived in Barbados for 4 years before returning to Toronto where Ingrid worked 20 years at Confederation Life as a Financial Officer. She maintained lifelong friendships in Vienna and will be missed very much by her friends and family there, especially Monika Amon and the Szutta, Racek and Mueller families. Ingrid’s wish was to be cremated, and that a private celebration of life will be held in October for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House or the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
