With her family by her side, on June 21, 2016, Ingrid passed away peacefully at home in Burlington, after a courageous battle with cancer, in her 79th year.
Predeceased by her loving husband Robert. Devoted mother of Laura Roberta Peaker (Mark), Valerie Grace Love and Kevin Conway Love (Nina). Proud grandmother of Julia, Claire, Ross, Helaina, Robert and Christina. Faithful sister of Gary Conway (Rosemarie), Patricia Eggens (Jack, deceased) and Charity Wyer (Kurt). Encouraging Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Ingrid graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto (1959), continuing her education at Western University, where she met her life-long soulmate Bob. She completed additional studies in Public Health Nursing. Ingrid was a devoted wife, mother and Registered Nurse in California and Wisconsin, before returning to Canada to nurse at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton.
Ingrid lived life to the fullest, always being that positive source of energy for her children, grandchildren, family and her many friends in Canada and knitting Friends in Naples, Florida. She had that special knack of connecting with her grandchildren, transcending the generations.
She enjoyed her summers at the family farm in Huron County and wintering at her oasis in Naples. Ingrid was passionate about music, knitting, entertaining family and friends, and baking, where she would whip up 8-10 pies at the blink of an eye. She always kept up to date on economics and politics, and worked to make the world a better place. Her bright light shone wherever she went and touched everyone. She served her family, friends, colleagues, patients and those in need with a humble heart. She will be sadly missed.
A Celebration of Ingrid’s Life will take place on Thursday, June 30th at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, 160 William Street, Oakville. Visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m.
