Ingeborg Marie Ebert November 15, 1928 - February 21, 2024
Inge was born in Berlin in 1928 to Gerhard Winter and Ella Winter (Hirt). The family grew to include her sister Traudchen and brother Gerhard. They survived the hardships of a depression and world war together.
Inge married Heinz Ebert in 1949. They emigrated to Canada in 1953. The couple made the most of their new life in Canada and were joined by their daughter Gudrun in 1954 and Michael in 1958.
Their retirement years were spent happily between their home in Toronto, their summer home in Orillia and winters in Florida. After Heinz died in 1996, Inge faced the last 28 years of her life on her own. She successfully navigated this chapter in her life as well with the love and support of her many friends on Verobeach Blvd.
Inge loved to travel, yet her native Germany never left her. She titled her life story “Home is Where the Heart is.”
Inge is predeceased by her husband Heinz Ebert and sister Waltraud Dzikowski. She is survived by her brother Gerhard Winter (Helga), daughter Gudrun Sayer (James) and Michael Ebert (Joanne). Inge became a grandmother with the arrival of her grandchildren Andrew Sayer (Cole), Timothy Ebert and Andrea Bevill (Brian). She was known by most as Oma for the rest of her life. She was also blessed to know her great-grandchildren Logan Bevill, Luke Bevill, Charlie Bevill and Oslo “Ozzie” Sayer.
There will be a family interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery on Tuesday, March 12. A celebration of life will follow at 2 PM at 148 Wimbleton Rd., Etobicoke, ON.
