LA NOSTRA CARA MAMMA ILDA
Remembered Forever In Our Hearts....
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother ILDA SCARLATO. At the age of 86 she peacefully left our world on Thursday May 6, 2021. She was the wife of her late husband Giovanni who preceded her death in 2002. She was the proud mother of Eugene, Julie (Greg), Franca (Frank), Angelo (Patricia), Anna Maria (Sam) and Marcello (Barbara). She was the wonderful grandmother of Josie, late - Ildina, Joseph, Vito, Sandra, Mario, Giovanni, Ivanna, Sara, Yolanda, Stephano and Gianni. She had an abundance of great grandchildren which included Annalisa, Francesco, Nicholas, Mia, Noah, Gabriel, Giada, Mila and baby Lorenzo. Ilda was predeceased by her sister Edgidia and her brother Santo. Ilda adored her family and continuously showered them with unconditional love and support throughout her life.
She was born on June 25, 1935 in Rende, Cosenza, Italy. In 1956, she excitedly ventured over seas by boat with her husband and mother to begin a new life and reunite with her extended family in Canada.
Ilda was an individual that held strong values and beliefs, she was extremely outspoken and never hesitated to offer her opinion in any conversation. She lived her life to the fullest, travelled extensively, sought out every opportunity to socialize and always made time to dress her best in the most fashionable outfits.
Ilda worked hard to provide for her family and always found the time to cook the most delicious meals. She loved to teach her grandchildren about the Calabrese baking traditions passed down by her mother and enjoyed making these recipes around the holidays. She embraced each and every one of her family members with open arms and a beautiful smile on her face. She was extremely passionate about gardening - she enjoyed making her famous tomato sauce and wine after every gardening season. Ilda’s top priority was celebrating with her family every chance she had, she enjoyed the endless nights of sitting around her kitchen table talking, eating, laughing and making the best memories with her loved ones.
Ilda was our Matriarch, our rock and the glue that held our family together. She was a mother first, but more importantly a friend who has touched our lives deeply and will be immeasurably missed. After experiencing the loss of her granddaughter Ildina, we are at peace knowing they have been reunited. She will always hold a special place in our hearts and her spirit will live on forever. We love you.
REST IN PEACE
