Ida Celebre

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday May 25, 2022 at the age of 82. Devote wife of the late Nicola. Proud mother of Maria (Paolo), Sergio (Mary) and Robert (Marcella). Cherished Nonna of Joseph (Christina), Nicola, Steven, Nicholas, Bianca, and Christian. Loving Nonna Nonna of Julianne and Paul. Ida will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. Ida has been reunited in heaven with her parents and siblings and the love of her life her dearest Nicola.

Ida met Nicola in their hometown of Cosenza. Nicola had made the journey to Canada by himself to earn enough to make a better life for himself. A few years later returned home to marry Ida. Together they returned to Canada to start a new life together. They worked extremely hard to save money to purchase a home and to start a family together. Raising three children.

Ida dedicated herself to her family. Nothing would bring a smile to her face like the one when her family was around the table enjoying a home cooked meal together.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Friday from 4-9 p.m. A mass will be held on Saturday May 28, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Parish 100 Bainbridge Ave., Woodbridge. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 8361 Yonge St. Thornhill. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
