It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Herman Antonius Mulder on February 27, 2024 with family by his side at the age of 96. Herman is survived by his son Herman (Barbara) and step-son Lars (Victoria). Cherished Opa to Jaclyn, Adam, Daniel and Gabrielle. Beloved son of Gerhard Hermann and Hendrika and brother to Ans (deceased), Johan (Miny), Ria, Joe (deceased), Paul (Una, both deceased). Herman was also a good friend, uncle and cousin.

Herman was born in Borne, Holland on August 3, 1927. He played soccer in Holland for many years and in England for 2 years, always as a goal keeper. Herman moved to Canada from The Netherlands in the early 1950s where he held many jobs including working in men’s wear at Simpson’s and then purchasing and running Herman’s Variety in the Junction area of Toronto for 15 years with his then wife, Herta. Herman later started an insurance brokerage business among several other business exploits including a couple with his second wife, Ingrid. He enjoyed spending every weekend at the cottage, which he designed and had built. He and Herman Jr. finished the interior work as well as the landscaping. When not cutting the grass and planting the garden, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, his many pets and bringing home stray animals. Herman loved to tell his grandchildren tall tales of dolphins and bears visiting him at the cottage.
