Helena Theresia Maria Zweerman (nee Schumacher)

Helen passed away peacefully at the age of 83 with her family by her side. Mom was welcomed into the arms of her beloved husband who died just three weeks ago. Their love for each other was so great that they could not be apart for long. Our strong and fearless leader fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. Helen was the cherished wife of the late Bernard for over 61 years. Loving mother of Bernie (Gabrielle), Mugs, Teresa (Klaus) and Yvonne (Dave). Caring and proud Omi of the late Christopher, Brandon (Ashley), Katie (Dushy), Emma(Nick P.), Jt, Nick, Erika, Liam and Lucas. Fondly remembered by Cliff and her many friends and extended family. An avid gardener and friend of nature she loved spending time at her cottage on Isabella Lake. Helen was a tireless volunteer who devoted more than 50 years of service to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (St Jude’s Parish, Weston). Special thanks to Dr. Baguio and the Palliative Care Unit at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (north of Lawrence Ave.), on Monday, December 8th 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 9th at 10 a.m. at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, 3265 Weston Rd.. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge St., Thornhill. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (St Jude’s Parish) would be appreciated.
