DOBSON, Irene --
Hazel Irene (Rene) Dobson, born in Clairville, Ontario July 27, 1926, died July 10, 2015 in Brampton, 2 ½ weeks short of her 89th birthday. Moving to Brampton as a young child with her parents, the late William Clifford and Sarah Jane (Wilson) Dobson, Irene was the oldest of 8 siblings: survived by Ruth McCulloch (late Keith), Shirley Robb (late William), Robert (Bob) Dobson (late Marilyn), Lenore Laidlaw (Roy), Wilson Dobson, Mavis Chambers (late Ken), and brother-in-law, William (Bill) Dixon; predeceased by her sister, Margaret Dixon. Extended family was important to her and she was a proud and loving aunt to 26 nieces and nephews and many more great and great-great nieces and nephews.
At first a bookkeeper, she then devoted most of her life to being a caregiver of others leaving the legacy of having been a positive influence on many lives.
Many will remember Irene for cross stitch ornaments that adorn their Christmas trees, knowledge she passed on of Brampton and family history, love of puzzles and Bingo, and as an avid fan of the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, and curling. Irene enjoyed books, gardening, butterflies and took joy from the simple things in life. Charitable and kind, she lived with an ‘attitude of gratitude’ and had only good things to say about others.
Family will receive visitors at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main St. S, Brampton on Friday, July 17, 2015, noon - 1 p.m. followed by a service celebrating Irene’s life at 1 p.m. in the chapel, then followed immediately by interment of her cremated remains at Brampton Cemetery.
The family sincerely thanks the VON at Grace Court Seniors Building, particularly Helga, Rose and others for their years of kind attentiveness and friendship to Irene.
