Harry Fried
Peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2016, in his 86th year. Harry is survived by his brother Harold and sister-in-law, Alice. He was Uncle (“Unc”) to Karen (Andy), Geoff (Caroline), Lisa, Allison (Frank), Cameron, Chris, Stephen, Andi, Dawson, Zac and Alex. Born and raised in Toronto, he was the son of the late Anders and Victoria Fried and lived most of his life in Mississauga. Harry attended the University of Guelph where he graduated as an Aggie in 1954. He later went on to complete his Masters of Education from the University of Toronto. He was a high school Science teacher, spending much of his career as Head of the Science Department at Streetsville Secondary School, retiring from teaching in 1995. Harry cared deeply for his family and friends and always looked forward to get-togethers and outings. With a passion for travel, he visited five continents and took every opportunity to visit family and friends around the world. Creative and knowledgeable on many topics, Harry spent his retired years continuing his education through lectures and literature and always stayed on top of current events. Harry will be missed by family and friends. Family and friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home “Brampton Chapel”, 52 Main Street South, Brampton on Tuesday, November 29th at 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel.
