Gwendolyn Ritchie

Gwendolyn Ruth Ritchie (nee Cowan)
(July 30, 1916- May 28, 2013)

Greatly loved, Gwen passed away in her 97th year. Predeceased by her husbands: George Daniel (1896-1943) and Harold Ritchie (1902-1978), and daughter Georganne Kitty Daniel (1944-1948). Devoted and loving mother to her surviving children, Shirley, Jean, Joyce, Bruce and Sylvia, with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
Gwen was an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful cook, as her family and many folks in Lakefield, Trent University and Branksome Hall Girls School can attest. Highlights she most enjoyed were her many trips, especially her 1992 Alaskan cruise with Bruce. Gwen was independent and self-content, always enjoying the company of her family, especially the annual family picnic on her birthday and the New Year’s Day gatherings.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, 416-241-4618 on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9p.m.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, May 31st, 2013 in the chapel at 1p.m.
Interment at a later date at St. John’s Norway Cemetery, 256 Kingston Road at Woodbine Ave., Toronto. As expressions of sympathy, at Gwen’s request, donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Please visit Gwen’s Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com
