Bascus Gwendolyn (nee Semper)
Passed peacefully, after a lengthy illness, at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, on Friday, December 10, 2021. Gwen was in her 86th year. Loving wife of Lionel, for 65 years, cherished mother of Joy Bascus, Del Lewicki (Gary), and her late son David (1995). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Corri, Erin and Zoe Atkinson. Lovingly remembered by her great- grandchildren Niobe, Julian, London and Cairo. Predeceased by brothers William (Bill), and Joseph Semper. Gwen worked for many years as a nurse manager at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, St Joseph’s, prior to that, she was a midwife in England, where she did her training. It remains for us to carry on her essence; her conviction, courage, spirit, integrity, intelligence, passion and dignity; in our hearts, and her life lessons in our deeds. Visitation will be held at the Ward Funeral Home (Brampton Chapel) 52 Main Street, South, Brampton on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. The family will receive friends at St. Marguerite D'Youville Parish, 2490 Sandalwood Parkway East, Brampton on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to follow at the church at 1:00 p.m. Cremation....
