KASTNER, Gustav
Gustav Kastner, 79, passed away November 19th, 2022, at the Hawthorn Woods Care Community in Brampton after a long battle with Lewy Body disease, a form of dementia.
Gustav is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lise Kastner (nee: Trudeau); his daughters, Astrid Kastner (John Mifsud) and Ingrid Kastner; and his two grandchildren, Madalyn MacIntrye and Michael MacIntyre. He was born in Austria to Franz and Aloisia Kastner.
Gustav came to this country as an immigrant in 1966. As a dedicated, hard-working man, he created an extraordinary life for his family. An accountant by trade, he eventually bought the company he had worked for for 30 years. He was incredibly proud of the home he built on Baptiste Lake near Bancroft, the perfect place to look out at the lake and listen to the loons.
Gustav will be remembered for his joking nature, once dressing in drag for a women's tennis tournament, and nobody realizing it was him. He loved gardening, fishing, making preserves and watching comedies and Disney movies. Gustav enjoyed being active, having run up the CN town several times in his life, breaking records in his age bracket. He was recognized for having proudly donated blood over 100 times.
As per his request, a small service will be held for his immediate family.
