As was her nature, Grazia Di Lorenzo peacefully passed away at the age of 88, in her sleep on Wednesday July 24th, 2019. Caring wife of Aldo (predeceased) and loving mother of Maria Pia (Frank) and Giuliano (Luisa).
Grazia (Nonnina) will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren; Stephanie (Carmelo), Michael (Renée), Natalie (Dino), Julian (Kristina), Lianna (Alexander), Lauren and her great grandchild Mila.
Our angel here on earth, will also be missed by her dear friends which included her brothers and sisters-in-laws and her many friends and neighbours.
Born on July 2nd, 1931 in Torre Di Passeri, Grazia was the 4th child of Anibelle and Marianna Buccella. She often reminisced of her childhood growing up on the Abruzzese countryside with her horse Stella and her dog Bianca during WWII.
Seeking new opportunities, she ventured across the Atlantic on La Saturina in 1952 at the young age of 20. Her first job as a nanny allowed Grazia to quickly learn English and begin to embrace a new life in a new country. Soon after arriving in Canada she caught the eye of a young man from Alanno, Italy. On June 20, 1953 Grazia and Aldo wed and began their lives together.
Their first home was on Lauder Avenue. Later they moved to 44 Amesbury Drive and one more move brought them to 24 Flamborough Drive. These addresses were also home to Aldo and Grazia’s many brothers and sisters and their families. These families included the Di Lorenzo, Natale, Discipio, Buccella, Canale, and Di Serio families. These were all the families that Grazia and Aldo helped get their first start in Canada.
Grazia was known to remember the day, month, and year of birth of the multitude of relatives in her life and loved playing card games and dancing with whomever she could pull on the dance floor.
May she continue dancing and playing the occasional card game in heaven.
