Grace Irvine

Irvine, Grace Elizabeth – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Grace Elizabeth Irvine (nee Wye) of Oakville, Ontario, in her 93rd year on Monday, October 11, 2010, peacefully at West Oak Village Long Term Care. Survived by her loving husband of 64 years, William Clifford Irvine, cherished mother of Valerie, Richard, Murray, Marianne (Boone) and Douglas. Proud and devoted grandma to Ryan, Christopher and Michael Irvine, Jessica, Alexander and Spencer Boone, and Jameson and Taylor Irvine. Grace was both friend and mentor to her loving daughters-in-law Molly, Cathy and Wendy and son-in-law Stanfell. Family was central to Grace’s happiness and she passed this cherished value on to her children and grandchildren.

Grace loved gardening. She was an active member of the Oakville Horticultural Society and keen competitor in flower arranging. She became a decorative and horticultural judge and applied her skills as a co-founder of the Garden Guild, a tireless group of volunteers who worked to beautify the grounds of St. Jude’s Church.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Howell House for the loving care Grace received. A special thanks to Sarah Gault who was Grace’s dear friend and guardian angel while at Howell House.

A private family funeral will be held at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, followed by interment at St. Jude’s Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Garden Guild, St. Jude’s Church, 160 William Street, Oakville, Ontario L6J 1C5.
