We are saddened to share that Gloria Partlo passed away on Friday, November 6th.
Sister to Barbara Teasell. Mother to Kim Prince and Kerry Heller.
Mother-in-law to Phil Prince and David Heller. Grandmother to Chelsy
Chesterman, Julian Chesterman, Mack Heller, Esther Kim, Austin Heller, and
Declan Heller. Great-Grandmother to Fiona and Elliot.
She touched many lives through her life-long devotion to Scouting as Akela of
the Mighty Fourth Cub Pack. When a Scouter passes we say they have “Gone Home”.
Gloria began her Scouting career in Sarnia, Ontario with the 12th Sarnia Cub
Pack. In 1952 she met our father, John Partlo, when he became the Akela in the
same cub pack. They were married on May 12, 1956.
After a move to London and then to Burlington, they settled in Toronto in 1964.
Gloria soon joined the Mighty Fourth Cub Pack where she passionately
volunteered until 2020 when she decided to retire after more than 70 years.
One of our special memories of mom are the times she took us to see musicals,
often for our birthdays. Among our favourites were Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat (yes, with The Donny Osmond), Mamma Mia, The Lion King and
The Sound of Music. Thanks mom for sharing your love of theatre with us.
