Giuseppina Fazio

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Giuseppina Fazio (nee Calio), at the age of 98 on January 21, 2025.

Born in Naso, Sicily, Italy, on January 21, 1927, she emigrated to Canada with her four sons in 1959 arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She and her husband Carmelo established a life in Toronto, Canada for themselves where they had another child, this time a daughter, and upheld many of their traditions from Italy.

Giuseppina was a homemaker in Canada. She also ran a successful in-home daycare for families in the neighbourhood for many years. Giuseppina was a woman who thought that faith, family and food were very important. Giuseppina was a warm-hearted person. She was wise and generous and would always welcome people into her home. She loved gardening, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

She will be forever missed by her children Charlie (Donna), Joe (Mary), Basil (Nadia), and Rita (Brad). She was a very proud nonna to eleven grandchildren and bisnonna to eleven great-grandchildren; many who carry her name. Giuseppina is now reunited with her husband Carmelo, her son Frank and grandson Devin, as well as many other family members who predeceased her.

Visitation for Giuseppina will be held on Sunday January 26th from 1-4pm. A Celebration of Life is to be held in the chapel on Monday January 27th at 10:30am. All are welcome to attend. The internment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery for immediate family members.
