Giuseppe Sgro

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Giuseppe Sgro (Joe) at the age of 57 years old at the Wiarton Hospital Complex Continuing Care Unit on January 20th 2021 A devoted family man who loved to enrich others that he had contact with. Devoted husband of Leslie of 33 years. Cherished by his children Lisa and Daniella. Born in Soverato, Catanzaro, Italy on January 08th 1964 to Dominic & Lucrezia he was the eldest of three brothers. Joe will be sadly missed by brothers Peter (Lisa) Delaney, Riley, & Stella and David (Susan) Liam & Sophia Brother-in-Law Paul (Esther) Esther, Iain & Petra and Mother-in-Law Janet. As well as many other loving and caring family members world wide and close to home. Joe’s greatest enjoyment came from family and the time spent together and also enjoyed tending to his hobby farm as well as his John Deer tractor, and Kubota snowplow tractor and his Cub lawn tractor. He will be missed by many friends in his neighborhood. Joe was a tireless provider for his family, starting first with Drafting and then ending up at Canadian Pacific Railway on February 15th 1988 as a Conductor and promoted to a Locomotive Engineer in 1990 working for the railway ever since. Joe was well-respected with coworkers, the friendships made throughout his career and the camaraderie shared on the road were always in his thoughts.
A private Visitation and Funeral Service will be held on Saturday February 6th 2021 at 11:00am at the Ward Funeral Home. The family has provided the opportunity to view a public live stream through Zoom of the service from the comfort of your own home. This link will become available at the time of the service. At a safer time we will have a Celebration of Joe's life to be arranged at the home he loved.
