It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe Mancuso on February 25th, 2023, at the age of 89.
Giuseppe was born to Vincenzo & Angela Mancuso, in Delia, Sicily on December 18, 1933.
Beloved husband of the late Angela Mancuso ‘nee Mazza’. Loving father of Vince Mancuso (Jennifer Herbert) & Dominic Mancuso (Tania Cologna). Cherished grandfather of Simon Joseph, Max John, Sofia Rose & Sebastian. He will be lovingly remembered by his entire family.
Having immigrated to Canada from a desolate war torn Sicily, he overcame the many tragedies of his youth from losing his father at the age of two, and to being condemned to working the wheat fields in Caltanissetta, at the very tender age of 8.
He left Sicily in 1952 for Halifax, making his way to North America. Five years later, he returned home as “The AMERICANO”, and fell in love with Angela Mazza. They courted each other for months and married in December 4th, returning in 1958 to start a new life in Canada.
Giuseppe’s friends and family will remember him as a kind, gentle and caring man who created a better life for his family. Nothing made him happier, more proud, or complete than being surrounded by his loved ones. He loved ballroom dancing with his wife Angela and their love beamed when they were in each other’s arms floating around the dance floor. Many can attest to this. Their pure love will live on forever through their children and grandchildren.
Always supporting his sons & grandchildren, he encouraged them to follow their dreams. He was, is and always will be a light in all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Giuseppe was a man of integrity! “He was a true gentleman and we will miss him dearly” stated all the various nurses, PSW’s and people he got to know during his final years at Villa Colombo, Kleinberg. They were enamored by his consideration, thoughtfulness and compassion towards them, right until his gracious final days.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (100 Bainbridge Ave, Woodbridge) Monday, March 6, 2023 at 9:30 a.m., with entombment to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Vaughan or Villa Colombo.
