Giulia Tangredi was born on January 8th 1933 to Angelina and Vincenzo Tangredi in the town of Mirabello Sannitico, in the region of Molise, Italy. Giulia was one of four children, and had fond memories of growing up in her hometown. In 1953 she married Francesco Canestraro, a man whom she would spend the rest of her life with building a family, a home, and memories to last a lifetime.
In 1953, Giulia and Francesco moved to Sao Paolo, Brasil, where they had their three children Antonio, Angela and Salvatore. They spent twelve years in Brasil, where they enjoyed a simple and rustic lifestyle. In 1965, the family moved to Toronto, Canada for a more prosperous future. Giulia worked as a seamstress and dedicated her time and energy to creating a loving home on Talent Crescent. It was in this home that she built a flourishing garden, and a wood-oven stove and was able to share wonderful home-cooked meals with her family.
Giulia will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren, Joe, Sam, Frank, Frank, Julia, Daniela, Michael and Christina, 6 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Melissa, Alexandra, Francesco Jr., Michael and Joseph, and her 3 step-grandchildren, Branden, Karlee and Maggie.
Giulia Canestraro will be remembered as the matriarch of the family, who loved her family so deeply and wanted nothing but happiness in our lives.
