Giovanni (John) Paone

Passed away peacefully from this world with his family at his side on November 8, 2016. After a long happy life, lived to the fullest, John spent his last days surrounded by family, friends, and love – just as he wished.

John was born in Aprilgliano, Agosto (Cozenza) Italy on March 31, 1937. He immigrated to Canada in December, 1953, leaving the love of life Elena behind, but promising that one day she would join him. In February, 1960, she did and this was a love he would treasure for the rest of his days. John and Elena built a life together centred around their homes on the Kingsway and in Woodbridge. Over time John and Elena’s family and extended family grew, a growth that John felt paralleled the growth of his love for Elena and his children. By any measure, John’s was a full and successful life. From his cherished family life, to thriving businesses, to his highly developed sense of what was morally right, John touched all those who entered his life.

John leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Elena, his daughters Gina and Sara and their spouse Stefano and Wade, and his sons Amedeo and partner Sandra and Anthony and his spouse Mara, and grandchildren Matteo, Alessandra , Christian , Michael , Nicholas and Alessandro, his brother Frank and spouse Patti and sister Lucy, and many extended family and friends.
