We announce Giovanni Di Biase's passing at 93 with heavy hearts.

Married to his wife Elisabetta for 63 years, Giovanni was a devoted husband and father. He leaves behind his loving children Gianna (Lito), Fiorenzo (Vera), and Maria (Vincenzo), as well as his grandchildren Ariana, Julian, Alexa, Dante, Michael, Alessandro, and Sofia.

He is survived by his sister Adelia and his sisters-in-law Maria Benedetta (Michele) and Anna. Giovanni is predeceased by his parents, Fioravante and Maria, his daughter, Maria, his brother Antonio (Franca), his brother-in-law Gino, and his sister Giuseppina (Giuseppe). He is also predeceased by his father-in-law Michele, his mother-in-law Secondina, his sister-in-law Elsa (Luigi), and his brother-in-law Clemente.

Born in 1931 in Fossacesia, Abruzzo, Giovanni emigrated to Canada on October 3, 1950, at 20 years old. Coming from humble beginnings, he endured the hardships of war and the loss of his father at just 12 years old. Despite these challenges, Giovanni worked hard to build a new life in Canada. His determination and generosity helped bring much of his family to Canada - including his wife, mother, siblings, extended family and friends. Often opening his home to newcomers, Giovanni always made room for an extra chair at his table. He created family everywhere he went.

Giovanni was immensely proud of his work and the life he built. He was known for being "forte e gentile"—strong and gentle—a true embodiment of these qualities.

All his family and friends will deeply miss Giovanni. He will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and how he took care of his community.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 27th, from 2–4 pm and 6–9 pm at The Ward Funeral Home in Woodbridge. A funeral Mass will be held the following day, Tuesday, January 28th, at 10 am at St. Margaret Mary Church.
