It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our patriarch Giovanni Copat. Giovanni affectionately known to many as Nino & John lived a rich and faithful life. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, April 21, 2023 in his 98th year. Born to Maria Pierina & Luigi Copat, in Italy, on January 8, 1925.
Giovanni was a loving man with an unshakable devotion to his wife Angela ‘nee Serrone’ for 57 years. Beloved father of Consiglia ‘Celia’ (Ermanno) & Luigi ‘Lou” (Maria). Cherished grandfather of Duilio, John (Jessica), Julian & Kyla (Christopher). Proud great grandfather of Christian, Anthony & Frankie. Predeceased by his siblings, he will be lovingly remembered by his nieces & nephews.
Above all else Giovanni was a devoted family man, he loved his late wife, children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. He was a man who loved his solitude yet enjoyed spending time with friends just the same. His family cherishes their memories of him whether out riding his bicycle, or watching his grandchildren practice hockey, dance, karate, music, or baseball to name a few.
His loss to his family and friends is significant and can't be explained in words. He has left behind a legacy of family members with clarity of their values, desires, and love of God. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts & minds of those who knew him.
