Gioconda Belluz

It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our dear mother Gioconda Belluz (nee Palu) on Sunday August 11, 2024. She has joined her beloved husband of 55 years, Pietro who predeceased her in 2005. Proud loving mother to her daughters, Arlene (Joe Dattolico) and Sonia (Joe Pace) and a cherished nonna to grandsons, Daniel and Michael and granddaughters, Alyssa and Jenna. Great-grandmother to Gio, Sebastian and Nicolas and dear sister to Bruno Palu, her beloved sister Mary Tonus (predeceased) and her brother Francesco (predeceased).

Her beautiful smile will be forever missed but not forgotten. 

She was born in Azzanno Decimo, Pordenone Italy in 1928 and came to Canada in 1951 to marry her sweetheart Pietro. As a couple they initially lived in Toronto then settled in Etobicoke where their loving home was a hub for family and friends.

She was a very kind person and a brave resilient woman with a deep sense of family and humanitarian values. Enriching our lives by encouraging us to be kind to each other, embrace opportunities, work hard and enjoy life.

She touched the lives of all who knew her and unconditionally loved her daughters and her grandchildren. Her compassion and her legacy of love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

We thank the fifth floor staff at Villa Leonardo Gambin, her home for the last six years, for their excellent kind care.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Ward Funeral Home on 2035 Weston Road, on Thursday, August 15, between the hours of 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral service will be held on Friday August 16, at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 1415 Royal York Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9P 3A7 at 9:30am, followed by a Private Family Entombment at Beechwood Cemetery and Mausoleum. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada or Villa Leonardo Gambin.
