Gina Torti

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022 in her 79th year. Devoted companion of Stefano for 44 wonderful years. Proud Mother of Carmine, and stepmother of Annatheresa and Nick. Cherished Nonna of Caprice, Naomi, and Lucas. Dear sister of Rose (Camilo), John (Josie), and Frank (Mary).

Gina was born on December 20, 1942 in Scafa, Italy to Giovanni and Maria (nee Accettola). Gina moved to Canada in hopes of starting a new life, despite speaking little English. She persevered through the many hardships that come with moving to a new country, and because of that she leaves behind a grand legacy to her children and grandchildren alike. Gina was kindhearted, creative, and very protective of those close to her, as she cared deeply for her family and the life that she was able to build in Canada.

Gina will be fondly remembered for her love of her family, and especially how she enjoyed watching Stefano work in their garden. Gina is forever loved and always remembered. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully appreciated in Gina’s memory.

Friends and family will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Tuesday, October 18 from 4-8pm. Mass will be held on Wednesday October 19, 2022 at 9:30am at St. Margaret Mary Church (8500 Islington Avenue, Woodbridge). Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
