It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerry Boudreau, known affectionately as Boud to his family and friends.
Joseph Gerald Boudreau was born in Cheticamp, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on April 1, 1940, to Timothe and Beatrice (nee Hache) Boudreau. Gerry passed away at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario on August 21, 2024 at the age of 84. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, his brother Roger, his son Mark and his cousins Wendell and Daniel. He is survived by his loving and devoted family; his wife of 36 years, Alice (nee Haley), his children Wanda, Timothy and Monique (David Swift); his grandchildren Roy, Cameron, Rob, Samantha, Daniel and Charles and great grandchildren Jackson and Aidan; his nephew Wayne, his niece Dawn (Jody) and their children; his cousins Glen and Brenda Roache, their families and Wendell’s family.
Gerry moved to Ontario from Cape Breton at the age of 19 and worked hard to build a good life for himself. In 1972, he moved his young family to Brampton from Scarborough and started working at Labatt as a millwright. Gerry happily retired in 2002, and by 2004, he and Alice became official “snowbirds”, wintering in Florida where he enjoyed playing golf and the warmer weather; Gerry did not like the cold and did not miss the snow! Gerry was a proud Acadian, he loved his home of Cape Breton, and went “back east” as often as possible to visit. Gerry was a lifelong learner; he took cooking classes in the eighties and was a very good cook. After he retired, Gerry decided he should learn how to use a computer so, he took computer courses and became very interested in technology. Gerry was a social person and enjoyed playing euchre as well as golfing and swimming at the YMCA. Everyone who knew him, loved and depended on Gerry; he was always helping someone, whether they be a friend in need of a ride to the airport or a family member dealing with a burst pipe in the middle of the winter, he would be there to help, never asking for anything in return. Gerry was a good man; he will be greatly missed, not only by his family and friends, but by everyone whose life he touched in some way.
Visitation will take place Thursday, August 29th, 2024 between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. at Ward Funeral Homes, 52 Main Street South, Brampton ON, followed by a mass at 1:30 p.m. at St Mary’s Church, 66 Main Street South, Brampton ON. The family will welcome friends for light refreshments and sharing memories of Gerry at the Royal Canadian Legion at 80 Mary Street, Brampton ON following the mass.
