Georgina Vavaroutsos

GEORGINA VAVAROUTOS May 2, 2010 at the age of 98, passed away peacefully with family by her side. Predeceased by husband Peter and survived by her children Pat (Mike), Peggy (Peter) and Lou (Susan). Cherished Yiayia to her 7 grandchildren (Costa, Denise, Lizy, Billy, Loui, Georgina and Bessie) and 8 great- grandchildren. She was one of 7 children. Predeceased by brothers Chris, Dino, Saranto, Theofani and survived by her sisters Dimitra and Nicoletta. Georgina was born in Pikoulianika (Sparta), Greece and lived in Adelaide, Australia for 15 years before immigrating to Canada in 1968. Georgina will be in our hearts forever and always remembered, as she built the foundation of our family and for others as well. Her values and principles have had an impact on her family members, friends, relatives and everyone who knew her. She devoted her life to her family and will forever be remembered for her generosity, loving and nurturing nature, and fabulous cooking. Her strength throughout her life and in her last days are truly admired. We would like to thank the incredible staff at the Hellenic Home for the Aged for taking such great care of Georgina for the last 13 years. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Toronto Western Hospital. In Georgina's memory, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Hellenic Home for the Aged. Georgina will be taken to her home in Sparta, Greece for her final resting place by her children. Family will receive friends and relatives at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge, 905-851-9100), on Thursday, May 6th between the hours of 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Church service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the fuineral home.
