We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved father, papa, brother, and friend passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, on February 11, 2023 at the age of 76, only 16 months from the passing of our mother. Much loved father of Kristine (Martin) Spencer and Kathryn (Richard) LeBlanc and proud Papa to Jack and Charlotte. Dear brother to Joanne and son of the late Dorothy and Jim Roberton. He will be dearly missed by nieces Erin and Kimberly, nephews James and Jonathan, and all of his family and friends.

George was born in Toronto and grew up in St. Catharines. After high school he worked at Silverwood Dairies where he met Sandra. They were married in May, 1970.

George had an extensive career in the dairy industry working at Silverwood Dairies, Eplett Dairies, Heritage Farms, Sealtest and finished his career as the Vice President of Logistics for Nestle Ice Cream. He worked hard all of his life from his first paper route through to retirement.

His greatest joy, however, was being a father and grandfather or ‘Papa’ as he was known. George was a very active participant in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He travelled the world with his grandchildren and to Disney World an embarrassing number of times.

George loved doing anything active. He was never one to have a “sit down” hobby. He walked his dog, Bo, daily, played golf two to three times per week from the beginning of the season to the end, was on a horseshoe throwing team and a bowling team. He also loved bike riding with his sister, Joanne. He never sat still.

Dad, not unlike mom, was taken from us so swiftly and we are extremely sorrowful. We are comforted by all of the memories that he provided and that he is now with mom. He will forever be in all of our hearts and never forgotten.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home "Brampton Chapel" on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and welcome to stay for his funeral service immediately following.
