John ''George'' Nicholson, born August 24, 1938, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday August 15, 2009 at the age of 70. Beloved and loving husband to Phyllis (nee MacNeil), cherished father to Warren and Kathleen of Oakville, Ontario, Brian and Lorraine of San Clemente California, David of Berlin, Germany and Colin and Ashley of Vancouver, British Columbia, adored grandfather to Alicia, Ellysha, Evan, Brooke, Robert, William and Luc. Loving brother to Roger. George was born in Montreal and moved to Ontario with Imperial Oil Ltd. in 1981. George retired in 1991 after 26 years of service with Imperial Oil Ltd. George will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and many friends as an avid railway enthusiast, audio-buff, amateur photographer, music lover, golfer and devoted family man. Visitation to be held at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville (905-844-3221) on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andrew's Catholic Church on Friday August 21st at 11:00 a.m. in Oakville, Ontario. Interment of cremated remains at Cote des Neiges Cemetery, in Montreal, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the ALS Society of Ontario would be appreciated.
