Genevieve Horvath, beloved mother of Julius Horvath and Genoveva Amendt, passed away at Trillium Mississauga Hospital on Tuesday March 23, 2010. Genevieve had suffered from blood clots in her leg and both lungs for several months. When her condition did not improve with treatment, further investigation resulted in a diagnosis of an inoperable brain tumor.
Genevieve is an irreplacable lifeforce in the hearts of her family and friends. Her wonderful sense of humor continues to make us smile, and her generosity and unconditional love for her family and friends continues to inspire. Nothing, however, could be more inspirational than her strength of character. In 1987, she survived the passing of both her own mother and her beloved husband, Gyula Horvath, within six months of each other. She subsequently held a difficult job for the next fifteen years to support her two children. In 2006, shortly after retiring, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she beat through chemotherapy and radiation.
Through any troubles in her life, Genevieve always looked for the silver lining and never let such difficulties weigh her down for long. She enjoyed every special moment life had to offer, such as the birth of her two beautiful grandchildren, Brian and Katelyn Horvath. She went on the trip of a lifetime, a Mediterranean Cruise, with her close friend, Rosanna. She enjoyed visiting the "zoo" of animals kept by her daughter and son-in-law, and even loved babysitting some of them. And of course, she enjoyed her chocolate!
We cannot express in words how much she is loved and how much she will be missed. Her death has left a crater in our hearts.
