Heaven gained extraordinary sparkle on Monday, January 31, 2022, when Dianne passed away, unexpectedly but peacefully and surrounded by family, following surgery for cancer in Toronto, Canada.
A lifelong Brampton resident and lover of her community, Dianne was born on October 6, 1956, to her exceptional parents, Ruth and Keith McCulloch, and her older sister, Karen McCulloch (Ian McKenzie).
Dianne graduated from the University of Waterloo, and her love of people and compassion for others led her to launch a career in social work in Peel Region, as well as to begin her long-time volunteering connection with St. Leonard’s House Peel, an organization that was very close to her heart.
Fate and the Peel Regional Police seemed to bring Dianne and Mike Gamble together, with three chance encounters leading to a lunch date. She then quickly fell in love with the handsome police officer and married him just 10 months later on August 29, 1981. Together, they built their family, adding their daughters, Lauren (Dan Riverso) and Sandi, as well as many rescue dogs and a variety of other animals through the years – a family which was the centre of Dianne’s world, just as she was to us.
A tireless volunteer and positive presence at her daughters’ schools every week, Dianne also donated her time and energy to Grace United Church. She led by example in her generosity and sincere care for the well being of others, both human and animal. She always kept snacks and water in her car in gift bags for people in need, as well as a spare dog leash, because if she ever came across a lost dog, she wanted to make sure she'd be able to help guide it home.
Dianne built her business, Dianne’s Mastectomy, with an unparalleled passion for her work driven by her interactions with women impacted by breast cancer and her unique ability to connect with each of her clients as individuals. Dianne’s Mastectomy has served the Brampton community since 1985, and Dianne has developed a donation program which saw her compassion span the globe, assisting women affected by cancer in countries as far away as Zambia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Ethiopia, and more.
The only thing that could tear her away from the work she loved so dearly was to spend time and make lasting memories with her two granddaughters, Charlotte and Andrea Riverso. With zest and excitement, “Grammy,” as she was affectionately called, took Mondays off work so the girls could come for weekly sleepovers, where they would play together, make meals and crafts, and do oh so much dress up. She had a remarkable way of making everyday activities exciting and memorable.
Dianne truly believed, "Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away." She embodied this ethos with such vigor that we, her family and many friends, take comfort in the countless happy memories, and will always cherish and honour a lifetime of love that can only be described as breathtaking.
In honour of Dianne's generous and loving spirit, those who wish to do so may send contributions in lieu of flowers to ElderDog Canada, an organization that rescues and finds forever homes for senior dogs, through their website
