Gary James Preszcator
Passed away April 7, 2020 at Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill in his 71st year. Gary was born on March 5, 1950 in London, Ontario, the eldest of five children to the late Donald and Marjorie Preszcator. As the “biggest” brother, Gary was active in his siblings’ lives and taught them many valuable lessons over the years. Gary also had a passion for all sports and played football, hockey and baseball before discovering his true love, golf.
During his time in London, Gary met Susan. During their marriage they had two daughters, Mercedes (Steve Maguire) and Margaret (Darryl England). While their marriage did not last forever, they remained friends and continued to raise their children together.
By 1979, Gary had met Barbara at one of his favourite vacation spots in Myrtle Beach. Their marriage continued for 25 years until Barbara’s death. During their marriage, they had two daughters, Lauren Preszcator (Meaghan Maddigan) and Kristen Preszcator (David Weber).
Later, Gary found love again with Oksana who had two daughters from a previous marriage. Through this relationship, Gary become a cherished father figure to Karina Mislitsky (Martin Gutierrez) and Sasha Mislitsky (Dave Carrier).
As an avid golfer and committed family man he would spend his weekends walking the fairway or playing with his grandchildren. Gary also loved to travel with his family and organized many memorable family trips over the years. Gary loved trips to Florida most of all, but hated flying.
Gary is the adored grandfather of Hannah, Logan, Mackenzie, Sebastian, Jordan, Rylie, Dylan, Mason, Landen and Lincoln. Gary is survived by his loving siblings Wendy (Brian Gatschene), Susan (David James), Michael Preszcator (Cheryl) and Michele Yandreski (Wes Simpson) and his many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Autism Ontario, a charity that holds special meaning to Gary and his family.
