It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Garfield Albert Bonnell.
Garfield was born on June 13th,1940 in Lamaline, Newfoundland to Benjamin and Harriet Bonnell, and raised in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Husband to Eileen for 52 years. Father to Crystal Ann (Orlando),Vicki (Roy), and Jason (Tara).
Grandfather (Poppy) to Ariel, Amaris, Sarah, Adara, David, Emma, and Jacob.
He worked for the City of Toronto in Long Term Care at Castleview Wychwood Towers (C.W.T) as a Personal Support Worker for over 30 years. He was a devoted employee who always put the needs of his residents first. Even in retirement, he volunteered at C.W.T for over 10 years.
Garfield was a loving family man who always worked so hard to provide for his family. He always had a full-time job as well as varying part time jobs ranging from Rubbish Remover to Truck Loader.
He thoroughly enjoyed the gospel sing along nights that he would attend with residents. He regularly put in the extra effort to be there early in order to help set things up and ensure that everything continued to run smoothly.
Garfield was a devout Christian man who never missed a Sunday service at church. His strong faith brought him through the last 7 months of his life. Knowing that he would be given his angel wings, and would be walking on the streets of gold, after hearing “Well done thy good and faithful servant.”
Garfield was a righteous man whose kindness and caring mannerisms shall be missed by all who knew and loved him.
