Peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on Monday, December 13, 2010 in his 90th year. Hugh beloved husband of Rita of 64 years. Loving father of David and his wife Carol, Miriam, Monica and her husband Peter Flattery, Veronica and her fiancé Henry Chow, Mark and his wife Anna D’Alimonte and of the late Paul and John. Dear father in law of Norma. Grandpa will be missed by Daniel, D’Arcy, Sean, Bridget, Carmen, Luke, Alyssa, Selina, Kristen, Francis and by his great-grandsons Rylan and Torren. Survived by his sisters Barbara Ferguson and Elaine Evans and by his brother Gerald and his wife Rita.

Alumnus of 65 years of McGill University. Founder of Geigy Pharmaceuticals in Canada, Hugh continued working in the industry until his retirement. Also a founding member of Development of Peace, the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada.

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston on Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church, 122 Rathburn Road, Toronto on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 11am. Cremation to follow.
